Merle Thompson, 94, of Sullivan passed away on Saturday August 10, 2019 at Breckenridge Nursing Home. She was born in Dekoven KY on August 21, 1924 to Hushel Wilson and Lucy Inez (Gill) Wilson. She was a 1942 graduate of Beechmont High School in Hawesville KY and had gone on to Business College. Merle, was an Airplane Inspector for the Army Air Force in the Evansville plant; she had also been employed for Meadowlark Farms, Gossards, and North American Latex. She was a member of the Sullivan First Baptist Church, enjoyed sewing, reading and wrote poetry. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Willard Blevins 1991, second husband Harold Thompson 2004, son, Lonnie Blevins, son, Lenard Thompson, brother Joseph Woodrow Wilson, sisters Helen Duncan, Virginia James, Mildred Way, Ruth Fish, Nannie Jo Cushman, a son in-law Rex Clark, daughters in-law Inge Blevins and Elenor Blevins.
Survivors include her daughter Ellen Clark of Sullivan, sons, Owen Blevins, Columbus OH, Kent (Beata) Blevins Corona CA, Tennis Blevins, Sun City AZ, Colin (Judy) Blevins Kokomo IN, daughters-in-law Nancy Blevins, Tom’s River NJ, Cindy Thompson, Farmingdale NJ, sisters-in-law Dorothy Wilson Mann, June Blevins Schofield, grandchildren Crystal Flath, Todd Clark, Chris Clark, Cara Graves, William Blevins, Steven Blevins, John Blevins, Kent Blevins Jr, Connie East, Michael Blevins, Eric Blevins, Brian Blevins, Angela Biscella-Davisson, Kelly Thompson and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday August 17, 2019 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev Bret Cox officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at Center Ridge Cemetery. The family suggest that if friends so desire memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warriors Project or the Disabled American Veterans Association. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
