Shan Medsker, 83, of Graysville, passed away on Thursday September 19, 2019, with his loving family by his side. He was born on April 12, 1936 in Sullivan County to Robert Medsker and Christine (Dehart) Medsker. Shan, was a 1954 graduate from Graysville High School. He next attended a short course in Agriculture at Purdue University. Shan along with his wife, Virginia (Ginny) was a grain and livestock farmer and also owned / operated S.D.M. Excavation Inc. He attended Kingsley United Methodist Church. Shan was very community minded and served on numerous board of directors through out the community. He was always willing to help a neighbor in need. Preceding him in death are his parents and a sister Sallie Unger.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years Virginia (Solsman) Medsker whom he married on February 14, 1959; and his children, daughter Tamar (Rob) Regan, San Antonio TX, Amy (Bert) Tryon, Graysville, IN; Kyle (Chris) Medsker, Raleigh NC, brother Harold (Malinda) Medsker, Sullivan, IN. 5 grandchildren, Chase Regan, Nicole Regan, Grant Tryon, Chris Tryon and Emily Medsker.
Services for Shan will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday September 24, 2019 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. Erich Blevins officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Mann-Turman Cemetery in Graysville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mann-Turman Cemetery Fund, or the Turman Township Youth Foundation, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
