Alice Jo (Levi) Jarrett

December 17, 1931 — July 1, 2020

Sullivan

Alice Jo Jarrett passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.  She was born on December 17, 1931 in Anderson, Indiana to Herman Neil Levi and Melpha Hope Douglas Levi.

When Jo was 15, she met Jack Jarrett at an Anderson vs. Markleville basketball game.  At the age of 17, Jo graduated from Anderson High School in 1949.  A month later, on June 26, 1949, Jack and Jo were married.  After their wedding, Jack and Jo moved to Sullivan, Indiana where they lived on their farm for more than 66 years.

Jo was devoted to her family.  She was a wonderful wife to Jack and always helped out on the farm.  She was a caring sister to Jerry and talked with her daily on the phone.  Jo was the very best mother and grandmother.  She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren and would do anything for them.

Jo loved having family over for Sunday dinner, hosting reunions, and having friends out to the farm.  She always had the most beautiful Christmas tree and took time to find the most perfect gifts for everyone in her family.

Jo was a member of the BYKOTA Club for more than 50 years.  She loved serving her community with her closest friends.  Jo also cherished the friendships she made at Stonecroft Assisted Living after moving to Bloomington in 2016.

Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, in 2016.  She is survived by her son Jeffrey (Drucilla) Jarrett of Sullivan, daughter Nancy (Dr. Matthew) Parmenter, granddaughter Megan and grandson Matthew II of Bloomington, and son John (Lisa) Jarrett, and grandchildren Sabrina, Hunter, Isabella, Freya, and Ruby of Florida.  Jo is also survived by her sister, Jerry Frost of St. Louis, Missouri, and Jack’s sister and brother-in-law Kay and Ron Grewell of Effingham, Illinois.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, services have been delayed, and a celebration of Jo’s life will take place when it is safe for friends and family to gather.
