Andrew "Skip" John Kosco

August 30, 1942 — March 12, 2024

Farmersburg

Andrew John "Skip" Kosco , 81, of Farmersburg and formerly of Prairie Creek, entered Heaven's Glory on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 8:15 am. He was born August 30, 1942 in Terre Haute to Andrew Kosco and Leona Verostko Kosco. He attended Sacred Heart School. When he was about to go into the 6th grade, his family moved to Prairie Creek, He graduated from Prairie Creek School in 1960. After graduation, he went into the Army and worked as a cook,  peeling his fair share of potatoes.

While eating at the Root Beer stand in Farmersburg, he met the beautiful Nila Stuck. He told his friend “Thats the girl I am going to marry”. He married Nila Jeanne Stuck on Aug 27, 1962 and they were married for 49 years. This marriage produced 2 children, Kelly Kosco Kozik of Evansville and  Kristy Minnick and husband Jason of West Terre Haute . Also surviving are grandchildren, Renee Helms and husband Ben of Bloomfield, IN, Hannah Fiene and husband Caleb of Valdosta, Georgia, Lauryn Randolph and companion Nathan, of Terre Haute; grandson, Robert “Louie” Randolph of Evansville; great-grandsons, Bennett Helms and Archer Fiene; Sisters, SusanWilbur, Debra Donnenhoffer and husband Mick; nieces and nephews and special, long time friend Richard and Phyllis McCowen.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nila, his parent's, infant son, brother, Jerry Kosco, infant brother also named Andrew, and brother in-law Tom Wilbur.

Skip was proud to be a Union carpenter with Local #133 and also a hog farmer. The most important time in his life was when he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Because of this, Skip is in Heaven today. He had been a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Farmersburg for many years and was a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Moderator and Song Leader. Later, he became a member of the Friendship Baptist Church where his Christian walk began many decades prior.

Visitation and Funeral Services will be, Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 10:00 am. until  2:00 pm. with a Funeral Service at 2:00 pm. at Friendship Baptist Church in Farmersburg, with Pastor Jim Larger officiating. After the funeral service, Skip will take one last drive past his old hog farm and house to then be taken to West Lawn Cemetery. Military honors will be given at the grave site by the Sullivan County Honor Guard.
