It is with heavy hearts that the Hood family shares the passing of their dear son, and brother, Austin Lee Hood, on September 8, 2026 at Indiana University Hospital. His family by his side as he bid this world farewell. He began his life journey on December 11, 1995 in Sullivan, Indiana, the son of Bill and Tracy Hood.
His 30 short years were filled with sharing his talents with others. From lending a helping hand to complete strangers, to sharing his inner “engineering” mind with those around him. His ability to “rearrange” and “fix” things his way, were a unique part of who he was. He always kept a roll of electrical tape to fix anything ! He enjoyed taking things apart and and always was looking ahead at what something could be instead of what it was.
His love for family was immeasurable. He was always a man of his word, never faltering on a promise. He was never one to shy away from where he stood on a subject, and could be known to be a bit outspoken from time to time, always with love. He loved everyone he met and was proud to call them friends. He was a hardcore Ford lover. Believing nothing compared to driving a Ford.
Those preceding him are, his grandparents, Oscar Helton, DD Dillingham, Nellie and Harrison Hood.
Those here to cherish his memory are, his parents, Bill Hood and Tracy Helton Hood; children, Grayson Johnson and Ariah Gallagher; siblings, Levi Hood, Kyle Hood (Chelsi) and Dalton Hood. Along with many nieces, nephews , extended friends and family.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Holmes Memorial Chapel.
Friends and family may pay their respects from 4:00 pm. until time of service at 7:00 pm. Pastor Troy Pearison will officiate.
