DR. BARON LOUIS BROCKSMITH
Doctor Baron Brocksmith of Sullivan, Indiana passed away on January 6, 2025. He was a beloved father, brother, son and husband. To know Baron was to love him and his generosity and wisdom will live on in the lives he touched and the many stories he shared.
Baron was born October 20 th , 1967, in Vincennes, Indiana to Dr. Jerry and Randa (Andrews) Brocksmith and grew up in Knox County. He attended North Knox High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1986. Baron attended Purdue University and received his B.S. degree in 1990. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1994 from Purdue University’s School of Veterinary Medicine then returned to Knox County and cared for countless animals through his veterinary clinic in Vincennes.
Outside of the clinic, Baron was known for his love of the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and instilled the same love of the outdoors in those around him. His stories from beloved family hunting and fishing trips were legendary, shared with many a client and friend.
Baron is survived by his wife, Angela (Heape) Brocksmith, whom he met while attending Purdue and married in 2003. They had three children, Conrad Walker Louis, Olivia RuthEllen, and Clayton Weston Neal, all of Sullivan. Baron deeply loved his children, who brought immeasurable joy throughout his life. Baron often shared how proud he was of their accomplishments and of the paths each had carved. The values and love Baron instilled in his children will guide them through life.
Baron is also survived by his parents, Dr. Jerry and Randa Brocksmith of Bicknell, brother, Kurt Brocksmith (Barbara) of Bicknell, sisters, Sarah Smith (Michael) of Carmel and Jill Bont (Nathan) of Grand Rapids, MI, brother-in-laws Aaron Heape (Michelle) of Pelham, AL and Ryan Heape (Laura) of Indianapolis and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. The loss of his presence leaves a tremendous void in the lives of those left behind.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Mariah Creek Christian Church, 9366 East Oaktown Road, Oaktown, IN 47561 with a private family service following. Pastor Matt Hoffman officiating. Holmes Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
