Bernice E. Turpen, 91, of Terre Haute, formerly of Dugger, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute. She was born on December 15, 1922 in Dugger, to Hershel and Della Mae (Martin) Goodman. She became the wife of Dale Turpen on June 3, 1939. She was a member of the Dugger Church of Christ, Pythian Sisters and was a 50 year member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was employed in the medical field for many years and then worked at the Dugger Senior Citizen Center until age 89. Bernice was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Dale Turpen; son, James Dale Turpen and great-granddaughter, Paige Nicole Badger.
Survivors include: two daughters, Patty Howard of Terre Haute and Barbara Badger of Cayuga; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Morris Goodman of Indianapolis.
Services will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Dan Ford officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services. Burial will be in the Dugger Cemetery. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in memory of Bernice to the Dugger Church of Christ. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
