Hymera,
Betty Jean Walters, 85, of Hymera passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Sullivan County Community Hospital. She was born in Owen County on August 10, 1929 to Lester and Irene Corbin Marshall. Betty was a member of the Hymera Independent Community Church. She was well known for her cooking, loved to clean the church and just adored her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Walters, a son David Walters, brothers Billy Joe Marshall, Dean Marshall, a sister June Cox and a great granddaughter Madison Jones.
Survivors include three daughters Brenda Sadler of Hymera, Cathy (Jerry) Jones of Vicksburg, Debbie Franklin of Hymera, brothers Vernie Marshall of Jasonville, Bob (Evelyn) Marshall of AL, a sister Maxine House of Jasonville, daughter in-law Carmella Walters of Jasonville, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren several nieces and nephews.
Services for Betty will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday December 27, 2014 at the Hymera Independent Community Church with Pastor David Swalls officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the church. Burial will take place at Longs Chapel. Holmes Memorial Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements.
