Bill Mann, 71 of Merom, IN. passed away in St. Vincent Hospital, in Indianapolis, on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 4:22pm. Bill was born December 24, 1941 in Indianapolis, IN., to Oren W. Mann and Mary Alice Blankenship Mann. He is survived by his wife Diane Spaulding Mann, whom he married on August 24, 1963, survivors also include a daughter Carey Lynn Mann of Charlotte, NC. sons Jeff (Kyra) Mann of Merom and Danny (Jennifer) Mann of Sullivan, a sister Karen Mann of San Jose, CA., and five grand-children.
Bill was a graduate of Southport High School in Southport, IN., Purdue University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy, member of the Shaker Prairie Christian Church, President-Mann Seed Farms, Inc., a 50-year member of Southport Masonic Lodge #270, Carlisle OddFellows, was Sullivan County SWCD Supervisor, on the Sullivan County FHA Advisory Committee, Gill Township Levee Association Secretary-Treasurer, Sullivan County Credit Union Credit Board member, President- Indiana Soybean Growers Association, Vice-President Indiana Corn Growers Association, Indiana Crop Improvement Association Board, First National Bank and Trust Board of Directors, State Soil Conservation Board Member appointed twice by Governor Orr reappointed twice by Governor Bayh, once by Governor O'Bannon and once by Governor Kernin, Ivy Tech District 7 Board of Trustees, Treasurer- Board of Directors Ag Alumni Seed Improvement Association, Indiana Farm Bureau Elect Committee, Indiana Prairie Farmer Master Farmer, Sagamore of the Wabash, Gamma Sigma Delta Honor Society of Purdue University, Distinguished Ag Alumni Award for Purdue University, Crops and Soils Merit Award Indiana Crop Improvement Association, and Outstanding District Official North Central Association of Distsrict Employees NACD.
Services will be Wednesday, November 13, 2013, 2:00pm at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Harold Medsker officiating in Holmes Memorial Chapel. Visitation is on Tuesday from 3:00pm to 8:00pm with Masonic Memorial Service at 7:00pm. If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made to the Sullivan co soil and water conservation district or the Hadden Twp. Fire & Ambulance Dept., and Sullivan County Conservation Endowment. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home. There will be a private burial at a later date in Merom Cemetery.
