Burlin Moore

December 26, 1930 — September 12, 2018

Burlin Moore, 87, of Sullivan, left his earthly body peacefully and went home to be with his Lord and his wife he loved dearly on Wednesday September 12, 2018. He was born on December 26, 1930 in West Terre Haute to Cary Lafayette "Carter" Moore and Charlotte (Stuck) Moore, being the youngest of five boys and one girl.

He married Mary Rose Reagan on January 22, 1960 in Upland, California. She preceded him in death after almost 55 years of marriage, passing away on December 16, 2014.

Mr. Moore served with the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, United States Army; Augsburg Germany after training with the 101st Airborne, Camp Breckenridge, Kentucky during the cold war. He qualified as an expert sharpshooter. After the Army he worked for H.W. Loud Machine Shop; Pomona CA during the late 1950's and 60's. In the late 1960's he started at J.I. Case; Terre Haute plant and he received semi-early retirement in 1987. He then worked for Pinkerton Security and several other jobs until he fully retired.

Mr. Moore with his brothers and sister, grew up singing gospel music, and loved playing his guitar, mandolin and harmonica especially during Moore family reunions. He was an avid reader especially spending time with his siblings, children and grandchildren. Mr. Moore attended Wabash Valley Community Church in Graysville IN.

Survivors include his daughters, Sharon (Terry) Smith of Graysville, Becky (Keith) Gish of Evansville, one son Gordon of Phelan CA, his twin brother Merlin (Janet) Moore of Denver CO, sister in-law June Bray, Ontario CA, nine grandchildren, Adam Taylor, Jason Taylor, Jodi Smith Goings, Brandy Repsher, Nicole Smith VanHook, Tony Moore, Josh Smith, Breanna Smith Trimble, and Heidi Gish Bennett, 15 great-grandchildren, Kaytlin Taylor, Kylie Taylor, Wyatt Taylor, Carter Goings, Connor Taylor, Brock VanHook, Gracelynn Rose Taylor, Maci Goings, Delainey Smith, Bowen VanHook, Bentley Smith, Tucker Smith, Bristol Rose Trimble, Jackson Smith, Berklee Trimble, Madelynn VanHook; 1 Great Great-Grandson Westley Brankovich and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Wilbur Moore, Leland Moore, Elwin Moore; a sister, Doris Armstrong Roberts and a daughter in-law Tracy Moore.

Services for Burlin will be at 1:00p.m on Monday September, 17, 2018 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Armstrong and Rev. John Mohr officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-6:00p.m. The family suggest that in lieu of flowers donation may be made to Temple Baptist Children's Outreach P.O. Box 131, Carlisle, IN 47838. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Burial will be at Johnson Cemetery.
