Colleen Stoppenhagen, 73, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Zionsville Meadows. She was born in Sullivan, Indiana, on July 18, 1942, to Paul Patrick and Olive (Hancock) Boyle. Colleen was a 1960 graduate of Sullivan High School, and a 1964 graduate of the Indiana University School of Education; she earned her Master's in Education in 1965. While at Indiana University, Colleen pledged Alpha Phi sorority.
From 1972 until 2002, Colleen, her three sisters, and their families gathered to enjoy the (Bevera Boyle) Libke's hospitality at Harrison Lake in Columbus, IN. When Colleen and her husband Wes moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, the other sisters and spouses joined them each summer to enjoy their pool and lake. Many trips with the sisters were taken to Hawaii, Hilton Head Island, Florida, Australia, and Las Vegas.
Colleen was initiated into Tri Kappa in Sullivan, and became very active in the chapter in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In Bella Vista, she was active in the Welcome Club, Happy Hoosiers, B.V. Travel Club, and the Indiana University Alumni Association. Colleen enjoyed golf, tennis, boating, snow skiing, and traveling.
Survivors include two sisters, Marti Bodine (John) of Sullivan, and Ann Carty (Jim) of West Lafayette, and nine nieces and nephews; Melissa Watson (Ed), Matt Libke (Susan), Mark Libke, Beth Brewer (Bud), Mike Carty, Steven Bodine (Jen), David Bodine (Amy), Ryan Bodine (Deena) and Amy Slifer (Jay). Colleen was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sister Bevera (Boyle Libke) David.
Services to honor Colleen's life will be held at the graveside in Center Ridge Cemetery on Saturday November 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend David Cox officiating. Following the services will be a reception at the Elks Country Club. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Holmes Memorial Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.
