Dale Hinkel, 72, of Terre Haute and formerly of Highland IN and Indianapolis, passed away on Sunday August 3, 2014 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Hammond IN on April 2, 1942 to John and Dorothy Grimmer Hinkel. He was a Carpenter by trade, employed at Refractory Engineers in Indianapolis, IN, and was in the United States Army. He was a 16 year coach in Highland Youth Softball and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sullivan. Preceding him in death are his parents. Survivors include his wife of 51 years Jean Reder Hinkel whom he married on April 20, 1963, in St. Mary's Church in Griffith, IN, four children Mark and his wife Jenn Hinkel, Joseph and Angie Hinkel, Mary and Keith Doi, John and April Hinkel, a brother Wayne Hinkel and 12 grandchildren. Services for Dale will be 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 5, at Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan with Fr. Frank Renner officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Services. Mass of Christian burial will take place in Dyer IN at St. Maria Goretti Parish. There will be visitation for Dale in Highland IN at Kuiper Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Chapel Lawn in Schererville IN.
