Daniel J. “Dan” Brown, 84, of Sullivan, slipped away peacefully, surrounded by those he cherished, on February 24, 2026, at The Gibson Family Center.

Dan began his journey in life on August 10,1941, In Iowa, born the son of the late, Carl and Margaret Brown. He was a graduate of Sullivan High School Class of 1959. Dan was a member of CrossRoads Community Church, 50 year member of  Masonic Lodge # 263 of Sullivan, Sullivan Elks 911 and Sullivan Shifters Car Club, along with a dedicated supporter of Sullivan Salvation Army. He married his loving wife Nancy Hagemeier on 3-15-1980

They spent 45 years of loving life, and family, hand in hand.

Dan was an extremely talented woodworker, and most recently enjoyed wood carving. He shared his passion for woodworking throughout his career, with numerous clients at Hamilton Center as Workshop Director. He was an avid fisherman, with many family memories made on fishing trips to Kentucky Lake and Sioux Narrows, Ontario Canada, to name a few. He was a compassionate man with deep family values and loyalty. He was truly “one of a kind”. He enjoyed life to the fullest, with his humor and steady presence. He could be found cheering on his grandchildren in the stands at sporting events no matter the distance.

His family was his life, his passing leaves a void that will forever be missed, while, forever remembering his love and compassion.

Those awaiting his arrival were his parents; his first wife, Michelle (Prose) Brown, along with siblings, Jane Padgett, John Brown, Bob Brown, and Maxine Tatum.

Those here to cherish his memory are, his wife, Nancy Brown; children, Scott Brown (Tammie), Mandy Stanifer (Eric) and Heather Brown; grandchildren, Jake Brown, Carly Brown, Zack Stanifer (Danielle) and Collin Stanifer (Elise).

The family requests the honor of your presence to pay tribute to a life well lived, at CrossRoads Community Church, on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 4:00 pm. until 8:00 pm. Masonic Services will be held at 7:00 pm. A celebration of life service will be, Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11:00 am. with visitation from 10:00 am. until the time of service, at Crossroads Community Church, with Pastor Peter Bales officiating.

The family welcomes memorial donations sent to, Sullivan County Salvation Army, in lieu of flowers in honor of Dan.

Holmes Memorial Chapel and staff were honored to assist the family with arrangements.
