Daniel B. Hurley, 70, of Pleasantville, passed from this life on November 27, 2025 after an extended illness. Daniel began his life journey on May 30, 1955 in Sullivan County, the son of the late Daniel Boone and Christena Bratcher Hurley.

He was a 1973 graduate of Dugger High School. After graduation Daniel proudly served his country with 32 years of dedication. He enlisted in the United States Army, then enlisted in the United States Air-force where he served until his retirement. He was a well decorated soldier, earning exemplary awards in Marksmanship, Expeditionary Medal, for encountering armed foreign opposition, the Air Force Longevity Service award along with numerous military awards, decorations, medals and ribbons. With his enlistment he traveled the world, making many friendships along the way. After his retirement he returned home to serve in his community alongside his fellow veterans. He married his loving wife Cassandra Thomas, on November 25, 2000. Together they enjoyed life with laughter and adventures.

He was an active member of Dugger American Legion Post # 224. He shared his love of cooking at the post, where he was the “breakfast chef”. Daniel was known for his wicked sense of humor and quick wit. He will be truly missed by those he loved.

He is preceded by his parents and one sister, Marjorie Wheeler.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Cassandra Hurley along with a sister, Mary Hurley.

Services to celebrate a life of dedication and service will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with visitation from 11:00 am. until time of service at 1:00 pm. Pastor, Jason Jones will be officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Dugger Indiana. Military rites will be conducted by the Sullivan County Honor Guard.

The family extends an invitation to all in joining them for a time of remembrance, following the cemetery. There will be food and drinks at Dugger American Legion, 8155 E. Main Street, Dugger, Indiana.
