Darrell Edward Wesner, 87, of Sullivan, Indiana passed from this life on November 18, 2024. He was born March 10, 1937 in his grandfather’s living room in Merom, IN to the late Lawrence ‘Shy” Wesner and Helena Wesner Gannac. Darrell graduated from Gill Township High School in 1955. He was a member of the 1955 Gill Township High School boys basketball team that was champions of the Sullivan Sectional. In 2021, Darrell was inducted into the Southwest High School Alumni Association Athletic Hall of Fame.
After high school, Darrell attended Indiana University where he earned an associate degree in x-ray technology. He was then employed by the Cass County Memorial Hospital as a hospital technician in health imaging for 7 years. He then accepted a position with Eastman Kodak as a technical sales representative, working his way up to division vice president of national accounts. While there, Darrell made life-long friends and enjoyed a career of 31 years before he retired in 1996. He also served in the Army National Guard while a resident of Logansport, Indiana.
Darrell enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and especially spending time with family and friends. He served as president of the Sullivan County Community Foundation, and attended the First Presbyterian Church of Sullivan. Darrell’s faith was important to him, and he enjoyed discussing religion and The Bible.
Left behind to Cherish his memories are wife Nancy Wesner of Sullivan, daughter Kim Wesner Holladay(Gary) of Athens, Alabama, son William Wesner of Graysville, and son Jon Wesner of Houston, Texas, step-daughter Jill Hensley, step-son Michael Mirkovich, and brother Ron (Evelyn) Wesner of Brazil, Indiana. He leaves behind four grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Janice Sue Wesner, as well as brother Brian Lee Wesner of Monroe, Ohio, and step-son Rob Mirkovich.
A memorial service is planned for Thursday November 21, 2024 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sullivan, Indiana. Visitation is from 11 AM to 1 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
The staff at Holmes Memorial Chapel were honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
