Daryl Dewayne Shorter, 61, of Sullivan passed away on August 4, 2020 at Sullivan County Community Hospital. He was born in Sullivan County on September 3, 1958 to Jim Shorter and Helen (Mason) Shorter. Daryl was a truck driver most all of his life but his family and Grandchildren is what he lived for. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Jeffrey Shorter and a brother Jay Shorter.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years Mary Alexander whom he married on May 28, 1983; daughters Alicia Shorter, Rachel (Montie) Tomey, Melissa Shorter and her fiancee Stefan Rogers, Lindsey Shorter, a brother David (Jeanne) Shorter, grandchildren, Brylee Tomey, Emma Baxley, Heavenly Rogers, Mackenzie Rogers, Olivia Wooldridge, Sadie Rogers, Greyson Tomey, Gibson Tomey, Jamison Shorter, several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday August 10, 2020 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Cox officiating. Visitation will be from Noon until the time of services. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Mask are required. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to help with expenses. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
