Dennis R Ewing

Dennis Ray Ewing, 65, of Sullivan, passed away at 4:00 pm. Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute. He was born February 15, 1951 in Vigo County to William "Bill" and Peggy JoAnn Hughes Ewing. He was a former employee of the Vigo County State Highway Department, a plumber at Huff Furnace and Pump in Sullivan and a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #157 in Terre Haute. He was also a member of the Army Reserves from 1970 to 1976. He enjoyed fishing and woodwork crafts and vended at many local markets. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Jeffery Alan Ewing in 1994 and David Mitchell Ewing in 2006 and his in-laws Charles "Butch" and Mary K. Huff. Survivors include his wife Shirley Ann Huff Ewing whom he married December 28, 1969, one son Jason (and Jessica) Ewing of Sullivan and his grandchildren Jeffery Ewing and Kaylee Ewing both of Sullivan and one brother Bruce Ewing of Terre Haute. He also has one sister-in-law Susie (and Mike) Pierce and two brothers-in-law Randy (and Hersha) Huff and Kenneth (and Leigh) Huff, all of Sullivan. Graveside services are at Mt. Tabor Cemetery on State Road 154, Sullivan on Friday September 30, 2015 at 2 pm. Military services are scheduled with Hymera, Shelburn, Sullivan American Legions and Sullivan VFW. Holmes Memorial Chapel is charge of arrangements.
