Donald Ray Ficklin, 91, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 8, 2026.

Don was born January 3, 1935, in Petersburg, Indiana to Frank and Eula Alford Ficklin. He was a 1953 Petersburg High School graduate and attended Oakland City College. Don married his true love Sandra Weathers on February 26, 1954. They moved to Sullivan in 1958 and made it their home.

Don was a long-time member of Sullivan First Christian Church and served as a deacon and a church treasurer for many years. Don retired as Vice President at Sullivan State Bank. He loved working for the people in our community. He was a member of Apple Club and enjoyed their weekly meeting and fellowship most of all. Don had tremendous love for his family and loved to attend any sport or family get togethers. We could always count on him to pray for us at meals and any other time.

He was preceeded in death by his parents,his wife Sandra, brothers Leo, Ivan, Frank, David; sisters Thelma, Wanda, Imogene, and Betty.

He is survived by a daughter, Debra Olson(Michael): and two sons, Mark (Tina) Ficklin and Tom (Vicki) Ficklin all of Sullivan; six grandchildren: Lisa(Fred) Norton, Trent(Emilie) Olson, Addisson(Troy) Pearison, Donivan(Caitlin) Ficklin, Solomon Ficklin, and Kale(Mickala) Ficklin; nine great grandchildren: Paige and Jacob Norton, Griffin and Ava Olson, Renley Ficklin-Beard, Riggs Pearison, Tatum, Sloan, and Kacen Ficklin; he is also survived by one sister, Patty Holman, Monroe City, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at Holmes Memorial Chapel on Thursday June 11, 2026. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with service to follow at 1:00 with David Cox officiating. Burial is at Center Ridge Cemetery.

Holmes Memorial Chapel and staff were honored to assist the family with arrangements.
