Dorothy Mae Futhey Smith, 87 of Sullivan, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Millers Merry Manor. She was born in Byhalia, MS, August 12, 1926 to John W. and Florence Mills Futhey. Dorothy was a homemaker. She attended the 1st Baptist Church of Shelburn. She and her late husband, Robert "Bob" Smith were instrumental in starting over 60 churches in the Mid-West and Florida during their lifetime. Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, a son, Daniel Smith, two brothers, James Futhey, William Futhey, two sisters, Erma Futhey, Bertha Futhey, a daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Smith and a grandson, Joshua Robert Baker. Survivors include three sons, Robert B. Smith Jr. of Las Vegas NV, Steven (Marguerite) Smith of Georgetown KY, Roger (Lyn) Smith of Greencastle IN, a daughter, Beth (Chuck) Jennings of Sullivan, two brothers, Gene Futhey of Crossville TN, John Futhey of New Holland, Ohio, three sisters, Jackie Wilson of Carrolton, TN, Lillian Alford of Aliquippa PA, Judy Ann McKee of Ava MO, 28 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Services for Dorothy will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Holmes Memorial Chapel, Sullivan, Indiana. Visitation will be on Friday from 12-2p.m. with Rev. Harley Archer officiating along with her sons. Burial will be in Center Ridge Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers. Envelopes will be made available at the Funeral Home.
