Listen to Obituary

Duane Edward Moore, 67, of Shelburn, passed through the pearly gates of Heaven on October 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Duane was born on June 12, 1959, in Sullivan, Indiana, to Norman and Freda (Case) Moore. He graduated from North Central High School in 1978. Following graduation, he earned his welding certification through Ivy Tech and began his career at J.I. Case, where he worked for 10 years. He particularly enjoyed his time there and took great pride in his work.

Continuing his education, Duane graduated from Lincoln Trail College with an associate degree in HVAC. He later went on to co-own B&D Heating & Cooling, where he used his knowledge and skills to serve his community.

Duane was a dedicated member of the Shelburn Church of God, where he faithfully served by maintaining the church building and caring for the grounds. Through his willingness to serve, he demonstrated his love for both his church and his community.

Duane enjoyed hunting, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. An avid motorcycle enthusiast, he and his wife shared a love for the open road, traveling together on their Harley-Davidson through all 50 states. These adventures created countless memories they would cherish for a lifetime. Above all, Duane treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who held a special place in his heart.

Duane was a man of remarkable character, known for his welcoming spirit, generous heart, and unwavering commitment to those he loved. He had a special place in his heart for those who needed someone in their corner. A sacrificial giver, Duane gave freely of his time, talents, and resources, often putting the needs of others before his own. He was hardworking, dedicated, and steadfast in his commitments. He was also a trusted confidant, someone who could be counted on to listen without judgment and keep even the deepest of secrets. Whether through his words, his work, or his quiet acts of kindness, Duane made those around him feel seen, valued, and loved.

Duane is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Toni Moore; his son, Kyle McCombs (Danielle); his daughter, Kaylee Retseck (Paul); his five cherished grandchildren, Fiona McCombs, Amelia, Waylon, Meredith, and Arlis Duane Retseck; his sister, Jo Ann Bedwell; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Freda (Case) Moore; his sisters, Norma Jean Fishburn, Helen Skelton, Betty Johnson, and Rose Crumley; his brother, Phillip Moore; his niece, Sara Clodfelter; and his nephews, Jeff Moore and Donny Skelton.
