Edwin Francis Nicol

October 9, 1946 — April 14, 2021

Carlisle

Edwin Francis Nicol passed away April 14th, 2021 at the age of 74 surrounded by loved ones. With the support of his loving family, Ed displayed feats of strength while battling serious medical issues in recent years. His unwavering love for his family was a beacon of inspiration until the end.

Ed was the youngest of four sons born to Walter and Daisy on October 9th, 1946. Instilled with a respect for those committed to military service, Ed dutifully served his country after joining the Air Force on November 29th, 1965. His incomparable intelligence led to an impressive career as an Aircraft Radio Repairman after attending technical training at Kessler Air Force Base, Mississippi. He continued his service traveling to Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan and Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. Ed braved the dangers of the Vietnam War before honorably separating from service and returning home in 1969.

His distinguished military service led to a civilian career transition into Quality Assurance at the Crane Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center. For 37 years, Ed was a subject matter expert providing direct, invaluable guidance to high ranking government officials and Crane leaders.

With all of his impressive accomplishments professionally, Ed was most proud of his family. He passed on his work ethic and compassion to his four children, several grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren all of whom loved him very, very much.

Ed is survived by his son Jeffrey (wife Lisa), son William (wife Nancee), daughter Kimberly (Tyrone Hill), daughter Tabitha (Fred Latimore), and companion Jenni Legg son in-law James Leslie, step daughter Billi (Ryan) Fraley.

He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Daisy Nicol, brothers Thomas, William, and Robert, wife Terra, and great-granddaughter Daisy, step daughter, Sherry Laslie.
