Elmer Nip Miller

April 22, 1944 — August 19, 2016

Sullivan, Elmer "Nip" Miller, 72, of Sullivan, passed away peacefully on Friday August, 19, 2016 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Nip was born in New Carlisle, IN on April 22, 1944 to Elmer Curtis "Nip" Miller, Sr. and Emma Helen (Cox) Miller. Nip was a 1962 graduate of Sullivan High School, a member of the First Christian Church of Sullivan and had retired from Win Energy. He was active in Sullivan High School Athletics having helped coach baseball, a member of the Friday night football "Chain Gang" and was integral in maintaining the athletic fields. He also coached baseball in Sebring, FL where he wintered. He served on the Sullivan County Park and Lake Board, the Housing Authority and was currently a bus driver for the Southwest Sullivan County School Corporation. Nip was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Indiana Hoosiers basketball and Sullivan High School sports. He enjoyed being involved with his grandchildren and spending time, on the porch, with his neighbor, T-bone. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Iona (Miller) Boone. Surviving members include his wife of 53 years Linda (Royal) Miller whom he married on June 15, 1963, a daughter Carole (David) Andre of Sullivan, two grandchildren Derek Andre and Caylen Andre, a brother Robert "Bob" (Peggy) Miller of Sullivan, two sisters Mildred "Sis" Miller Stapler of Florida, and Jeanette Miller Bedwell of Sullivan, as well as many nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev David Cox and Curt Bedwell officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Center Ridge Cemetery. The Family suggest that in lieu of flower memorial contributions may be made to the Sullivan County Brown Baggers. Envelopes will be available at the funeral Home. Holmes Memorial Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.
