Elmer Leon Parsons, 81, of Shelburn passed away on Wednesday December 5, 2018 at Union Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Vigo County on September 21, 1937 to Clarence and Thelma (Williams) Parsons. Elmer was an Air Force veteran and a truck driver for Carie Brothers Trucking in Decker IN. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Norma Mae Hedden, and Mary Lou Grindle.

Survivors include his wife Jean Kay Carpenter-Parsons whom he married on August 23, 1998, sons Jeffery Parsons, Larry (Dawna) Clark, daughters, Billie Jean (Fred) Grayless, Janelle (Daniel) Simpson, Kay (Israel) Brewer, Terri Pellegrino and her Fiancé Jeff Howson, two sisters Margaret Ann (Bob) Fischer-Eads, Nancy Kay (Jack) Archer, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren nieces nephews and other family and friends.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday December 10, 2018 at Holmes Memorial Chapel, with Revs. Jeff Blansett and Don Ransford officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-7:00 p.m. Military services will be given by the Hymera, Shelburn, and Sullivan American Legion's and the Sullivan County VFW. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery in Farmersburg.
