Eva Mae Knotts

Eva Mae Ready Knotts Evan Knotts passed away on November 12, at Sullivan Co. Community Hospital. She was born in Iona, Indiana to Ira and Orphan Ready on August 29, 1925. She was the fourth of eight children. She married Dick Knotts in 1945 and reared three children- Francie, Jane, and Richard "Dick". She was an active member of the Carlisle Methodist church and belonged to the Eastern Star. She worked by Dick's side at their farm in Carlisle until they retired and moved to town. She raised chickens and sold her eggs commercially. She planted a large garden and shared its bounty with her friends and family. She was a wonderful cook and many a visitor to her home was treated to a wonderful meal. Eva was an accomplished quilter. Her beautiful quilts grace the homes of many of her friends and family. She was active in Farm Bureau and while her children were small, she taught children's Sunday school classes. She and Dick spent their winters in Bonita Springs, Florida. They led a very active life with their friends. Eva loved to dance and she and Dick could often be found out somewhere square dancing. They were also avid campers. Their camper was parked at Sullivan Park and Lake nearly every summer for many years. There was never a dull moment around the Knotts'. She was preceded in death by her parents; by Dick, her husband of 67 years; by her daughter, Jane and her grandson, Carter Hale; and also by her brother, Max Ready and her sister, Alice Hall. She is survived by her daughter, Francie (Butch) Hale and her son, Dick (Janice) Knotts, Her grandchildren Curt (Kristal) Hale, Kendra (Brian) Fuhs, and Kyler (Gretchen) Knotts. She also leaves behind seven great grandchildren. Five of her siblings also survive- John (Pearl) Ready, Mary Horton, Pat Harden, Faye Walters, and Dale (Carol) Ready. Services will be held at Holmes Memorial Chapel at 11 a.m. on Monday November 16, 2015. Visitation will be from 9-11a.m. before the funeral. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, make a donation to the Carlisle Methodist Church to help with their children's outreach program.
