Everett Dean Samm, 91, of Farmersburg passed peacefully into eternal splendor of Heaven, on February 21, 2025 at The Gibson Family Hospice Center. His life journey began in Coalmont, Indiana on June 8,1933 as one of five children born to Curtis Walter and Vivian Irene Griffith Samm.
He was a graduate of Coalmont High School. He married Wanda Darlene Dugan on May 24,1952. Everett went on to join the Laborers Union until his retirement. After retirement he was actively employed at various positions of employment, as he was never one to be idle. He was still working up until a few weeks before his passing at the Sunrise Coal Company, where he was known to be the oldest minor working in the United States. His determined personality and hard work ethic were very evident to those around him.He was a long standing member of Friendly Grove Baptist.
Everett was President of Bass Masters in the area for many years. Conducting tournaments and enjoying the camaraderie of others that had a love for the sport. Fishing, deer and ginseng hunting were among his hobbies also. He was first and foremost a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Preceding him are his parents, son Kevin Samm, brothers Thomas ‘Eddie’ Samm, Wayne Samm and Charles Samm.
Those here to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 72 years, Wanda Samm, children, Jeffery and Tanna Samm of Midland , Bradley Samm of Jasonville, Rhonda and Marty Hansen of Sullivan and David Samm of Farmersburg. One sister Ruth Yates and husband Charlie of Jasonville. Several grand and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be on Wednesday February 26, 2025 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with visitation from 10:00 am. until service at 11:00 am. with Pastor David Smith. Burial will follow at Holder Cemetery in Carlisle.
