Francesca Davis

April 2, 1930 — October 21, 2024

Francesca Salvatore Davis, 94 of Sullivan, passed away peacefully of natural causes at home in the company of her family & beloved kitties.

Francesca was born in Waterbury Connecticut to Italian immigrant parents. She earned her private pilot’s license at 16. After graduating from Crosby high school in 1948, she moved to Hollywood California where she became a glamorous hostess for Trans World Airlines through the 1950s.

She married TWA Captain Rufus “Dub” Davis in 1958 & has two daughters, Maria Davis (63) of Paxton, IN & Jaime Davis MD (61) of Minneapolis, MN. She has 4 grandchildren.

The family moved from Los Angeles, CA to Freeport, Bahamas in the 1960s where Fran was a dedicated philanthropist & served 2 decades with the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, becoming the President of Bahamian chapter.

Francesca served a decade with the Hugh O’Brian Youth Foundation accompanying Hugh & his team on several international trips developing the next generation of leaders worldwide.

She continued pursuing her aviation interest & competed in several transcontinental & international air races representing The Bahamas, bringing home several prized trophies.

Francesca loved to renovate her historic home, The Haddon House, in Carlisle & hosted friends & family regularly over the years there.

She will be remembered for a life filled with love, global adventure & dedicated service.

The staff at Holmes Memorial Chapel were honored to assist the family with arrangements.
