Frederick O. Barron, 94, of Summerville, North Carolina, slipped peacefully into the welcoming arms of Jesus on March 9, 2025.Frederick was born to David G. and Mary Ann Dixon Barron on December 29,1930 in Shelburn, Indiana. He was a 1948 graduate of Shelburn High School. After graduation he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country in the Korean War. Following his tour of duty with the Navy, he returned home and on August 12, 1956 he married his loving wife Vanetta Reeves. She was his life partner of nearly 67 years before her passing in 2023. Together they created a loving Christian home and enjoyed traveling and raising their children.
God was the firm foundation of his life, spending time with family was his favorite pastime. He never met a stranger, he could strike up a conversation and enjoy the time with those around him.He enjoyed "sweet talking" the waitresses at his favorite breakfast spot. He was a jack of all trades, holding various jobs in his lifetime. Frederick was always an independent spirit, even in his later years. Such as, driving from Florida to Indiana to visit family and friends at the age of 93 “by himself”. His family have many fond memories of enjoying travels with their parents over the years growing up.
At Heaven's gates his parents along with his wife were joyously awaiting his arrival. Along with a grandson, Paul Anderson Jr. and son-in-law, Paul Anderson Sr. and a sister in-law, Joan Worley; siblings, David Barron, Jim Barron, Mary Ellen Winstead and Joan (joni) Crooks.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Keith Barron (Joretta), Kevin Barron (Vikki), Fred O. Barron, Jr. (Elyse) and May Anderson; sister in-law, Emma Lou Ahlfield; grandchildren, Josh Barron, Heather Barron, Elizabeth Fox, Fred Barron, III, Cairis Barron, Amy Young and Kelly McCalip; great-grandchildren, Travis Barron, Ely McCalip, Rylynn Young, Daniel Young, and Anna Young along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
