George “Chick” R. Reed, 93, of Fairbanks, slipped sweetly into eternal rest on April 24, 2026 at The Waters of Sullivan. He began his life journey on July 14,1932, in Des Moines, Iowa.
He was one of 10 children born to the late Wilmer and Mildred Reed. He married his loving wife, Marilouise Braner, on November 7,1952.
Chick, was a Millwright Union Carpenter, by trade and was a hard working, loving husband, Dad, Papaw and friend to many. He was never idle, always tinkering with a new project, he also enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time. His family was his greatest treasure, he was proud to have the title Papaw and was always willing to help anyone that needed a hand.
Those gone before him are his parents, his loving wife Marilouise Reed; siblings, James Reed, Keith Reed, Priscilla Davidson, Mary Jane Anderson, Beulah Boughman and Dorothy Sligar.
Those here to cherish his memory are his daughters, Jane Wilson and Janice Okes (Donald); grandchildren, Donald Okes II and David Brush, bonus grandchildren, Amy Okes, Krystal Boone and Joanna Foster; siblings, Albert Reed, Wilma Jo Miller and Ruth Alice Stultz. Several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Services to celebrate a long and fulfilled life will be at Holmes Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, April the 28, 2026 with visitation from 11:00 am. until time of service at 1:00 pm. with Pastor Robert Miller officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Prairie Creek, Indiana.
