Henry Clayton Shidler

June 13, 1958 — July 16, 2018

Henry Clayton Shidler, 60, of Hymera, went to be with his Savior on Monday July 16, 2018. He was born on June 13, 1958 in Terre Haute, to Gilbert and Marietta (Halberstadt) Shidler. He married his high school sweetheart Patricia Ann Himebrook, on August 11, 1979. Clay was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws Jon and Mary K Himebrook.

Clay is survived by his wife of almost 39 years Patty of Hymera, sons Joshua Clayton (Anna) Shidler of Terre Haute, Justin Andrew (Heather) Shidler of Hymera, a daughter Shannon Mary Christina of Hymera, six grandchildren who were the light of his life, Braxton, Alyssa, Jensen, Blaizze, Blakelynn and Beau, two brothers Terry (Cassie) Walton of Terre Haute, Estel (Cindy) Shidler of Hymera and his baby sister Candy (Tony) Auman, brother in-law Kenneth (Rhonda) Himebrook and Richard (Charlotte) Himebrook all of Hymera, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends Randy (Cathy) Compton and Phil (Brenda) Ivy.

Clay was a 31-year member of the Hymera, Jackson Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept., currently serving as Fire Chief and EMT. He was committed to serving his community. He was a member and deacon of Hymera 1st Baptist Church, Hymera Masonic Lodge #588. He enjoyed coaching his children in baseball and loved to support his grandchildren in their sporting events. He and Patty loved to travel and only had seven states left to have traveled all 50 in the United States. His good byes to his grandchildren was "Buddy Shake Always", Always and forever.

Services will be at 2:00p.m. on Saturday July 21, 2018 at the Hymera 1st Baptist Church with Revs. Curt Bedwell and Larry Ricketts officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 3-8:00p.m and on Saturday from 10:00a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. There will be an IVFA Service at 7:00p.m. on Friday. The family suggest that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hymera Jackson TWP. VFD, envelopes will be available at the Church. Holmes Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery in Farmersburg.
