Pastor James Russell Knight, 80, of Hymera, heard the soft voice of Jesus call him by name softly, “ Welcome home my good and faithful servant”, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by those he loved. He began his life journey on April 2, 1946. He was the only child of the late Russell and Marjorie “Margie” Knight.

He was a 1964 graduate of Hymera High School. He married his loving wife, Rita Kindred on August 26,1965. They enjoyed 60 years of loving life and cherishing family together. He was a dedicated pastor for the Sullivan, and Spencer Wesleyan Church’s. His Pastoring span over 30 years, he blessed to meet and was a guide to many over his life, he truly lived the life of a dedicated servant. His congregations became his family and he was loved by many. His friendly, joking, witty personality was one that made all feel welcome and heard. His quick wit and storytelling traits were who he was known for. He was a hunter in his younger days, enjoying the outdoors hunting, deer, rabbit, squirrel and fishing.

His family were his pride and joy, he cherished every moment spent making memories with those he loved. He has left a deep legacy of love, laughter, dedication and heart for Christ to continue.

Those awaiting his arrival at Heaven's gates were his parents Russell and Margie Knight.
