James "Jim" William Koenig

James  "Jim" William Koenig, a lifetime resident of Carlisle, beloved by family and friends, entered into the presence of Jesus, on February 23, 2024 at Sullivan County Community Hospital.  Jim was born in Sullivan IN on January 5, 1936 to Norman and Helen (Hoke) Koenig. He was a 1953 graduate of Carlisle High School and married his loving wife, Margaret (Vaughn) Koenig , on July 4, 1954.  Jim was a faithful servant and member of, Followers of Christ Church.

He retired from Hoosier Energy Power Plant after many years of service along with being a long time farmer in the area. Jim was well known for his love of wild and exotic animals. He raised and gently cared for numerous species over the years on his family farm . He entertained many visitors to share his love of animals with. He was a member of the Carlisle Odd Fellows, Pigeon Club, and was active in Sullivan County 4-H Club . Not one to be idle, he enjoyed working for Dinky's Auction barn in his later years.

Jims, parents precede him, along with his wife, Margaret and a brother Jerry Koenig.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Jane Thompson and her husband David, Jennie Falconbury, Sherry Gambill and Chris Vaughn; brother, Robert Koenig (Laura); several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren;  nieces and nephews and many special friends, whom will have a deep void with his passing.

A celebration of life services will take place at Followers of Christ in Carlisle IN on Saturday, March 2, 2024  at 11:00 am. with Pastor Glen Archer officiating . The staff at Holmes Memorial Chapel were honored to assist the family with arrangements.
