Janet Sue Sheffler, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Harrison's Crossing Health Campus.

Janet was born on April 17, 1937 in Carlisle to Chester H and Mary Ellen (King) Charlton, She graduated from Carlisle High School in 1955. She married James "Jim" W Sheffler on March 24, 1956. She was a member of Sullivan First Baptist Church.

Janet was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an Avon lady for more than 50 years and enjoyed meeting and visiting with her clients. She loved her grandchildren and spent time gardening, camping with the Hoot Owls camping club, Red Hats, playing cards, socializing with The Friday Afternoon Club, traveling and loved to set and amazing table to entertain. 

Janet is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Jim Sheffler, Daughter, Debbie Smith of Sullivan, Indiana and Son, Neil (Deanna) Sheffler of Carmel, Indiana; Four Grandchildren, Holly (Mike) Kriner, Andrew (Amy) Smith, Kyle (Jamie) Sheffler and Blake Sheffler; 7 Great Grandchildren, Addison, Georgiana, Augustus, Henry, Ava, Olivia, Sophia, and many nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters; Ethel Mae Flaughter, Helen Snyder, Virginia Daughtery, June Deiss. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Holmes Memorial Chapel, Sullivan, Indiana with funeral services beginning at 1:00 pm also at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Sheffler officiating. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Carlisle, Indiana.
