Jerry Meier

Jerry Meier, 75, of Sullivan passed away on Saturday November 25, 2017 at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born in Knox County on June 22, 1942 to Sheldon Meier and Jennie (Yates) Meier. Jerry was a 1960 graduate of Graysville High School, was a retired Mill Operator (Alcan) and attended the Wesleyan Church in Sullivan. He was always willing to help organizations and people within the community with their special events such as the Local Gospel Sings; He was active in The Lions Club, Jaycees, making deserts for the Catholic Charities Soup Kitchen and cookies for Kairos (Prison Ministry). Preceding him in death are his parents, brothers, Charles, Paul, Don, Bill, Sheldon Jr and sisters Betty Chenoweth, Linda Tryon and a grandson Jacob Meier.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years Judy (Wible) Meier whom he married on December 9, 1961; son Jeff Meier of Sullivan, daughter Joely (Ted) Lemke of Terre Haute, brothers James (Marilyn) Meier of Worthington, Steve Meier of Sullivan, sisters Catherine Mason of Plainfield, Mary (Larry) Mitchell of Cloverdale, Roberta McCammon of Hannibal MO, grandchildren, Jeremy (Sarah) Meier, Jessica (Will) Springer, Jenna (Greg) Hay, Nick (Kaitland) Durr, Adrian (Jessica) Durr, Abby Lemke, Anne Lemke, great grandchildren, Max Durr, Harleigh Durr, Gracelynn Hay and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. on Friday December 1, 2017 at the First Christian Church 105 N Broad Street, Sullivan IN. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday December 2, 2017 at the First Christian Church, with Pastor Erich Blevins officiating. Burial will be in Center Ridge Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Holmes Memorial Chapel. The family suggest that if friends so desire memorial contributions may be made to the Luke House. Envelopes will be available at the Church.
