John Robert "Bobby" Grimes

John Robert “ Bobby” Grimes, 66, of Paxton, In. formerly of Sullivan, passed onto his eternal hunting grounds on Saturday, April 27, 2024 with his loving family at his side. Bobby was the 11th child born to Ernest and Dorothy Partlow Grimes in a family of 13 children. He entered this life on November 5,1957 in Sullivan. He was a graduate of Sullivan High School Class of 1977.

He married the love of his life, Teresa Frazee Grimes in 1987, they celebrated 37 years of loving life together, cherishing their children and grandchildren.

Bobby, also known as “Hooty Bob”, never met a stranger and was blessed with the gift of gab to all he met along life’s way.  He was a devoted loving brother, husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He loved his family deeply and intensely and his sense of humor was always evident to those around him.  He was a past employee of Sullivan County Park and Lake and also spent many years working as coal miner.

Bobby enjoyed spending his spare time watching TikTok videos,  playing his guitar and singing silly songs for his grandchildren. Nothing filled his heart more than making his grandchildren smile. He was an avid outdoorsman all of his life, deer hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors in all aspects. He also enjoyed leather working. Bobby always chose the country roads to travel so he could enjoy the countryside. He was a beloved uncle who had a closeness with his nieces and nephews, including his great nieces and nephews. Who to them was more than an uncle in their lives. Bobby's passing will leave a void in the hearts of those that loved him, with assurance his love for them will always remain in their hearts eternally.

He is preceded by his parents Ernest and Dorothy Grimes; son, Dusty Grimes; brothers, Ernest Grimes, Gilbert Grimes, Ronnie Grimes, Richard Grimes, Rodger Grimes and Mike Grimes; sisters, Pansy Eslinger, Betty Ammerman, Margie Arnett along with special nephew, Jay Arnold.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Teresa Grimes; daughter, Amanda Smith (Travis) ; son, Corey Price (Brittany); grandchildren, Amelia Grimes, Carolynn Hayes, Triton Smith, Ireland Smith, Ashlynn Price, Aubrey Jones, Hayden Price and Koby Price; brother, Jerry Grimes (Marsha); sisters, Gail Ashba (Bob), Jody Ashba, and DeeAnn Horst ( Dale); special nephew, Beau Frazee along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation was chosen. Graveside services will be held at  1:00 p.m. at Center Ridge Cemetery on Saturday May 11, 2024. The staff at Holmes Memorial Chapel were honored to assist the family with arrangements.
