John Scott Lyttle, 63, passed away at his home in Bloomington, Indiana on Sunday, October 31, 2016. John was born in Miami, Oklahoma on September 5, 1953. He was one of 12 children born to John S. Lyttle and Joan Edgar Lyttle. He graduated from Sullivan High School in 1971 and he attended Ozark Bible College. John worked at many jobs in his life in many different places. He lived and traveled all over the world. He worked for Cook Industry in Spencer, Indiana for many years and later for Medical Polymers.
John loved music and poetry and books. His days were filled with writing poems and songs, listening to music of all kinds, and reading. He loved playing the piano, using it to create the beautiful music he wrote. He was a talented artist and created many works of art using all kinds of media. His home was filled with the things he created and the things he collected. It was a eclectic array and visitors always found something new and interesting to explore.
John loved to attend concerts and throughout his life he saw many artists of all genres and was fortunate to visit with many of them. He was known to play in local spots in Spencer and was well known and respected.
In the last few years John spent time sending texts, emails, and messages to each of those he loved using things they personally had in common and loved. Each of us have different and unique stories of the conversations, poems, jokes, songs, and messages they had with John as well as conversations they shared. He was such a special and talented man and was so loved and will be missed so very much.
John was preceded in death by his father, three brothers, James Douglas, Jeffrey Thomas, and Jordan Drew, and two sisters, Jenny Lou and Jacque Ann. He is survived by his mother, Terre Haute, son, Nathaniel Drew (Amanda), Terre Haute, stepsons Jeremy Schulze (Debbie) Massachusetts, Stephen Lewis and Nathan Lewis, Bloomington. His surviving siblings are Jo Linda Lyttle Powell, Sullivan, Jane and Reed Kilgore, Arkansas, Joel Lyttle, Indianapolis, Julie and Bob Pierce, Sullivan, Josh Lyttle, Terre Haute, and Jill and Wasfi Tadros, Fischers. His grandchildren are Austin, Jocelyn, and Cory Lyttle, Terre Haute. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A family service will be held on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 11:30 am at the First Christian Church in Sullivan. Holmes Memorial Chapel will be handling arrangements.
