Joyce Dicus Anderson-Settle left this earthly life behind on Friday, December 12, 2025. She began her life’s journey on June 6, 1950 in Terre Haute, Indiana, the daughter of the late Wayne and Doris Wolfe Dicus. She was a graduate of Wiley High School.
Joyce was a family-oriented person, filling the void of “Grandma” for many. She was active in her community and well known for her years of service to Brown Baggers of Sullivan County, where she proudly served as a board member. She was also a member of the Delta Theta Tau sorority, the receptionist for Dr. Stringfellow’s dental office and was a smiling face for Milburn’s Pharmacy for many years. She was a fun-loving soul with a soft heart for cats, and she never met an animal she did not love. Her beloved Benny Dog was her best friend. She loved classic rock music and drove a Chevy van with shag carpet. Her love, laughter, and warmth will be missed tremendously by all who knew her.
Those preceding her in death include her parents, Wayne and Doris Dicus; husbands, Mark Anderson and Jerry Settle; son, Brian Anderson; and older sister, Renetta Farris.
Those left to cherish her memory include her bonus daughters, affectionately known as “The Girls”: Tammy Settle-Morgan, Latisha Settle-Johnston, Lisa Fowler, Michelle Settle, and Tonya Mifflin; her son, Travis Anderson; his daughter, Tara; her sisters, Rhonda Maurer and Marsha Shaul; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews whom she loved each dearly; and her special friends, Curtis and Melody.
Cremation was chosen, with a celebration of life to be held at a date yet to be announced.
Holmes Memorial Chapel and staff were honored to assist the family with arrangements.
