Jasonville Wilbur Lotten "Junior" Monk Jr. of Jasonville, passed away away at his residence, Friday, September 5, 2014 resulting from a long time illness. He was born December 5, 1942 in East Chicago, IN to Wilbur Lotten Monk Sr. and Pearl Ransford Monk. Junior had been a member of Union Teamster Local 66, Union Laborer Local 204, a long time member of Union Carpenters Local 33, an active member for over 50 years of The American Quarter Horse Association, active member of 4-H Horse and Pony in both Greene and Sullivan counties, and was a Indiana State Fair Judge for Horse and Pony Color Guard for 13 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Arkie Eugene and William Lee, and a sister Nina Rose Gill. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Nancy Sue Monk, whom he married on June 1, 1963, one son Dean Monk (Nicky) of Dugger, a daughter Patti Monk Brenden (Chris) of Jasonville, two brothers John of Merom and Michael (Nancy) of Graysville, two grandchildren Briar and Bobbi Sue Hayden, three step grandchildren and several cherished nieces and nephews. Per Junior's request he will be cremated and there will be no visitation or funeral. The family request in lieu of flowers that donations be made to an account that has been set up to help Nancy pay medical cost.
