Karen Alumbaugh

Karen Elizabeth Crooks-Alumbaugh, 48, of Sullivan, IN, passed away peacefully at her home, on Monday, May 26, 2014 surrounded by her friends and family, to join our Heavenly Father after a courageous battle with cancer. Karen was born July 12, 1965 to Richard and Verna Crooks. Karen lived a very fulfilling life doing what she loved; teaching and shaping the young minds that passed through her classroom. She enjoyed scuba diving, family fun nights, and loved all of God's creatures. Her grandson, Hayden brought her a tremendous amount of joy every day. She is survived by her children, Joe and Cacey Alumbaugh; grandson, Hayden Vaughn; parents Dick and Verna Crooks; 3 brothers Chuck (and Susie) Crooks, Tim (and Kim) Crooks, and Rob Crooks; 5 nephews, Gavin, Matt, Ben, Tyler, and Cameron Crooks; 1 niece, Hannah Crooks; and numerous extended family. Visitation will be at the First Christian Church (Sullivan) Friday, May 30th from 4pm-8pm. A Celebration of Life service will be at the First Christian Church Saturday, May 31st at 11am, followed by a graveside service. The family would appreciate if loved ones would bring a picture or short story to share and post on Karen's memory wall on Saturday while we celebrate her wonderful life. Holmes Memorial Chapel was entrusted with arrangements In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the charity of your choice, in her name.
