Lois E. McCammon, 92, of New Lebanon passed away on Monday March 30, 2015 in Avow Hospice in Naples Fl. She was born on February 10, 1923 in Sullivan County to Floyd and Ethel Pierson Shepard. Lois was an active member of the State Street Church of Christ, Sullivan. While snow birding in Florida, she attended the Naples Church of Christ. Lois was a 1941 graduate of Graysville High School. After graduation Lois went to work in Bloomington for RCA. She worked building radio components for the war effort during WWII. After that, She worked for George & Summers Heape in the geology business. She then obtained her insurance license while working for Farm Bueau Insurance. On January 2, 1951 she married Billy Joe McCammon. She was by his side building the family farm until they retired in 1985. After retirement, she worked part-time in the Clerk's office. At one time, she was in the Friday Afternoon Club, won numerous Grand Champion Awards as a member of the Garden Club, was a member of the Democrat Club, taught Sunday school, was a past member of the Sullivan County Credit Union Board, and was previously on the 4-H Council, was Gill twp. Precinct committee person. She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, baking, canning and helping others. Her passion for flowers included judging flower shows and preparing wedding bouquets until she was 90 years old. But most of all, she adored her sons, grandkids, great grandkids and great- great grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Billy Joe McCammon, a step son Donald McCammon , brother Forest Shepard, sister Mary Lou Harrold, a niece Mary Catherine Carter, and a sister in-law Patty McCammon. Survivors include three sons Bob( Brenda) McCammon of Sullivan, Mark (Pam) McCammon of Sullivan, Ray (Trudi) McCammon of New Lebanon, ten grandchildren John (Delaila) McCammon, Chris McCammon (Mindy Young) Carl McCammon, Kelly (Chris) Atkinson, Keith Gambill, Jade (Candice) McCammon, Preston McCammon (Brianna Stewart) Rayce McCammon, Tanisha (Matt) Landis, Bubbi (Samantha) Lucas, brother in-law Paul (Martha) McCammon, sixteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services for Lois will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday April 4, 2015 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Pastor Eddie Hamond Officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Mt. Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shultz and Lewis Child and Family Services, P.O. Box 471 Valparaiso IN. 46384 envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.holmesmemorialchapel.com
