Loretta M Coats

Loretta M. Coats 83, of Sullivan, IN. died at the home of her son and daughter in-law in Carlisle surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 15, 1931 in Indianapolis to George Rice and Laura Gilliland Hawkins. Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother Robert Rice. Survivors include her husband Herschell Coats, son Jeff (Jennie) Coats of Carlisle, daughters Cathy (Gary) Bryant of Mooresville and Mary (Jerry) Lish of Bedford, a brother Edward Rice, a sister Wanda Sipe, sister in law Emma Doyle and Pat Rice and one brother in law Tom Coats, long time friend LaVonne Gilbert of Indianapolis, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and countless friends. She married Herschell Coats on October 7, 1949. They would have soon celebrated 65th years of marriage. She was a member of Sullivan First Christian Church, an avid reader, wonderful cook, a loving wife, mom, grandmother & GiGi. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to Joyful Noise Children's Choir(Sullivan First Christian Church) or Heart to Heart Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Services will be Saturday at 12:00pm at Holmes Memorial Chapel with visitation from 10:00am until time of service. Burial will be in Odd Fellows cemetery.
