Luke Nicholas Jones

Luke Nicholas Jones, 14, of Sullivan, passed away surrounded by family and friends in the early morning hours of July 21, 2017. He left this world and life as he lived it -- with style and grace. Luke was born on June 11, 2003, in Vigo County. He was brought home to Sullivan, Indiana, by his loving parents Chad and Nikki (Golish) Jones and older brother Caleb. Luke attended Sullivan Elementary/Jr. High School and would have been a freshman Golden Arrow in 2017. He played multiple sports growing up, including baseball, football and basketball. Last summer, Luke was bat boy for the Terre Haute REX Baseball team. He wanted to work at Duke Energy or be a police officer when he grew up. Everyone who had the pleasure of having Luke in their lives describes him the same way -- easy to love, with such a huge heart that he always put others ahead of himself. Even through his battle with cancer, he kept his great sense of humor, and continued to always have a smile to share. Luke's amazing amount of faith, bravery and determination to NEGU (Never Ever Give Up), inspired and touched many lives in the last year.

Luke is survived by his parents Chad and Nikki, and older brother Caleb of Sullivan; Grandmother Beth Wence of Carlisle; Grandfather Jim Golish of Graysville; Grandparents Katy and Danny Jones of Farmersburg; Uncle Jimmy (Jenny) Golish of Dugger; Uncle Shawn Golish of Carlisle; Uncle Andy Golish of Terre Haute; Aunt Amy (Rodney) Brooks of Farmersburg; and several cousins and extended family.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, at Sullivan First Christian Church; 105 N Broad Sullivan IN 47882. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the church, with Joshua Wood officiating. Burial will be in Center Ridge Cemetery. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the LiveLikeLuke Memorial Scholarship fund at First Financial Bank; envelopes will be available at the Church.
