Marry Ellen Powell

Mary Ellen (Powell) Cusick , 96, of Hymera, passed away on Friday April, 17, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor. She was born on December 17, 1923 to Adolphe “AD” Greenwood and Ona Steele Greenwood.  She started teaching in 1960 at Linton High School, then Shakamak High School, was a member of Sullivan 1st. Baptist Church, Sullivan Garden Club, Retired Teachers Association and the Hymera Ruritan Club.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Gene on April 16, 1998, and George Cusick on April 7, 2014.

Survivors include her son, Barry Powell of Terre Haute, daughter Susan Whitehead of Hymera, grandchildren, Kathy (Jim) Jerse, Barry (Sabine) Powell, Jill (Phil) Fernandez, Brian (Karen) Powell, Chris (Heidi) Whitehead, Kimberly (JD) Pinnick, and great grandchildren, Kara Lee Jerse, Jonas Powell, Lucy Powell, Matthew Fernandez, Dillon Powell, Phoebe Powell, Madalyn Rinck, Camden Rinck, Nathan Whitehead,  and Ariel Whitehead.

Due to the current social distancing requirements, services for Mary Ellen will be held privately at Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan, Indiana.  Family and friends are welcome to the  Graveside services on April 21, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at K of P Cemetery in Hymera, Indiana.  Holmes Memorial Chapel were entrusted with arrangements.
