Martha Sue Davis

Martha Sue Davis, 93, of Carlisle passed away on Monday January 8, 2018 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born in Sullivan County on December 11, 1924 to Willard Davis and May (Starner) Davis. Martha was a 1943 graduate of Carlisle High School. She had a long distinguished career in the US Navy. Her Military service began in WWII and included positions of responsibility from classified document courier to recruitment and training of Navy personnel. She retired in 1968 and enjoyed the quiet life on the family farm. Preceding her in death are her parents, a sister Mary Davis Nash, brothers Lon R. Davis and R.W. Davis

She is survived by her brothers John S. Davis of Carlisle, James G. Davis of Colorado, W. Michael Davis of Arizona, a sister Maggy May Davis of Carlisle, Several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday January 20, 2018 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. Norman Santus officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Military Honors will be given by the Hymera, Shelburn, Sullivan American Legion's and the Sullivan VFW. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery, Carlisle. If friends so desire the family suggest that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society in memory of PN-1 Martha Sue Davis. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
