Martha L. Nash, 65, of Shelburn passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Miller's Merry Manor. She was born in Sullivan Co. on February 7, 1948 to Howard and Mildred (Harding) Lofton. Martha was a 1966 graduate of North Central High School, a 1968 graduate of Vincennes University, a Candy Striper in the 1960's at Mary Sherman Hospital, the co-owner of Nash Sheet Metal, and a Foster Parent for over thirty-five years. Martha was known as Mamaw Martha by many, having cared for over two hundred children. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and Foster Parents Association of Indiana. Her father precedes her in death. Survivors include her mother, Mildred Harding Lofton of Shelburn, her husband, Pat Nash, of 44 years; two sons Jim Nash (Heather Akers) of Shelburn, Mike Nash (Kathy Crafton) of Shelburn, a daughter Beth (Terry Hunt) of Shelburn, a brother David Lofton of Shelburn, and a special cousin, Norma (Chris Fougerousse) of Jasonville; grandchildren, Joshua Hunt, Jeremy Hunt, Jason Hunt all of Shelburn, and her extended forever-family. Services for Martha will be at 12 noon on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. Don Ransford officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until services on Saturday. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to North Central Thunderbird Scholarship Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
