Marvin E. Jewell, 91, of Sullivan passed away on Saturday June 15, 2019 at Millers Merry Manor. He was born in Vigo County on October 2, 1927 to Charles E. Jewell and Dorsey Edith (Woodsmall) Jewell. He was a 1945 graduate from Honey Creek High School and a graduate from Indiana State University. Marvin had served in the US Navy, employed at Pfizer, and had retired from Merck as a research Biologist. He had been a member of the First Christian Church of Sullivan, Farmers Chapel in Terre Haute, and Alders Gate United Methodist Church in New Jersey. He was also a member of the Sullivan Elks and the Rinky Dinks mens golf league, as well as an avid Bridge player. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Kenneth Jewell.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Leah Joyce (Deer) Jewell, whom he married on September 24, 1950; a son Randall Jewell of New Jersey, a daughter Sandra Lee Frazier of Sullivan, a sister Wilma Ruthie (Paul) Holllis of Terre Haute, two grandchildren Sara Jewell and Paul Jewell, a sister-in-law Deanna Pottinger (Marion), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Marvin will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday June 19, 2019 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Cox officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the Funeral Home from 4-7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Center Ridge Cemetery.
