Farmersburg, IN Mary Bays, 85, of Farmersburg passed away in Miller's Merry Manor at 8:20pm on January 20, 2014. She was born October 27, 1928 in Terre Haute to Charles Pearman and Odetta Treager Pearman. Mary is survived by a son Billy Bays of Shelburn, daughters Sally Smith and Mary Lou Chapman both of Sullivan, grandchildren Bobbie Snow, Caleb Bays, Cody Bays, Erin Smith, Amy Smith and Sara Tripps, great-grandchildren Halee Snow, Jaylee Snow, Braylee Snow, Caden Bays, Calista Tripps and Isaac Trips and four nephews that she raised Richard, David, Christopher, and Mark Greenwell. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman in 2007, her parents, brothers William, Charles, Jack, Alec Pearman, and a sister Linda Greenwell. Mary was Past Worthly Matron and secretary of Hymera Order of Eastern Stars #289, past president of Sullivan Legion Auxiliary #139 and past president of District 7 Auxiliarly, and served on Sullivan County Committee for Relay for Life. She was a graduate of Terre Haute's Wiley High School in 1946. Visitation will be Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 4 to 8 at Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan, Eastern Star services will be at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Emmanuel Apostolic Church in Hymera at 11:00am with Rev. Jim Quick officiating. Interment will follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
