Mary Chowning

October 14, 1919 — March 7, 2014

Mary Frances Chowning, 94, of Fairbanks went home at 11:30am in Kindred Transitional Care Southwood in Terre Haute. She was born October 14, 1919 in Turman Township to Roy R. and Iva Joy Monroe Myers. Survivors include a daughter Joy Ellen Kuppler, and a son Alan Chowning and wife Patty. Grandsons Russ Kuppler and wife Kim, his family Tyler and Jackson Kuppler, and McKenzie Gentry. Randy Kuppler and wife Starla and family Camdon and Colton Kuppler. Granddaughters Nicki Chowning McCoy and husband Chris and family Talia, Daria, and Briley McCoy and Lequita Chowning Schwegler of North Carolina and her daughter Kelsey. Preceding her in death was her parents, her husband of 68 years Russell W. "Bill" Chowning who passed away in 2007. A infant sister Betty Lee and daughter JoAnn Presser in 2000, and son-in-law Richard Kuppler in 1997. She was a member of Kingsley Memorial United Methodist Church, and a 77 year member of Sullivan Chapter of Eastern Stars #188. The family would especially like to thank the Southwood Nursing Home and Southern Care Hospice. She was a graduate of Graysville High School and Brown Business College in Terre Haute, and was the Secretary at Fairbanks School. Visitation for Mary Frances will be Tuesday evening, March 11th from 3:00pm until 6:45pm. At that time Sullivan Chapter of Eastern Stars will present memorial service for beloved member. At 7:00pm services will be held with Rev. Paul Myers officiating in Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan. There will be a private burial on Wednesday. Family request in lieu of flowers that donations be make to Our Father's Arms or charity of choice. Envelopes will be available in funeral home.
