Mary Alice (Adams) Nichols, 62, of Sullivan passed away on Saturday May 20, 2017 at St Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on June 20, 1954 in Tell City to Thomas F. Adams and Edith (Suddarth) Adams. She was a 1972 graduate of Tell City High School and received her Masters from Indiana State University in Textiles and Clothing and Education. She attended Kingsley United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday school, a member of Indiana Teachers Association, Southwest Sullivan Education Association, and member of Eastern Star #272. She was currently employed at Southwest School Corporation as a 5th grade teacher at Sullivan Elementary School. Before becoming an educator she was a Purdue Extension Agent. She was preceded in death by her mother Edith Adams, grandparents Frank & Zylpha Adams; Oscar and Alice Suddarth, mother and father-in-law Russell and Mary Nichols, sister-in-law Nancy Nichols and brother-in-law Thad Corrigan.
Survivors include her father Thomas F Adams of Tell City IN, husband of 33 years Ron Nichols whom she married on April 14, 1984, only daughter Nikki Nichols and her fiancé Nick Scott, a sister Annetta (John) Jones of Valparaiso, a brother Daniel (Donna) Adams of Bristow IN, brother-in-law Riley (Marilyn) Nichols of Graysville IN, brother-in-law Rudy Nichols of Graysville IN, brother-in-law Randy (Shelley) Nichols of Graysville IN, sister-in-law Robin Corrigan Sullivan IN, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. ET on Thursday May 25, 2017 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Revs Frank VanAllen, Jerry McIntyre and Don Ransford officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8:00 p.m ET. Burial will be at Center Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Kingsley United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
