Maxine Huff

Maxine Lambeth Huff, 90, of Sullivan passed away on June 23, 2018 at Millers Merry Manor. She was born on March 3, 1928 to Harry and Viola (Robbins) Lambeth. Maxine was always proud to say she met her husband Wayne Huff on the 4H Senior Chicago Trip. They were married October 6, 1946 She was a member of the Sullivan Presbyterian Church, as well as the Church Circle. Organizations she attended were Rebekah Lodge (70 Years), Master Gardner's, Master Naturalist, Sullivan County Garden Club, and a Life Member of the National Garden Clubs. She was honored to win the State Garden Club Honeywell Award for her achievements in horticulture and floral arranging.

She was very active in Purdue Extension Groups. She was a 70 year member of Extension Homemakers. Maxine was a past member of the Extension Board, 4-H Council, Turman Twp., County Extension 4-H leader and P-CARET. Wayne and Maxine were devout 4-H Supporters. For 72 years they have sponsored the Senior Swine 4-H Showmanship award. Most everything she was involved in, she was an officer-locally, area, state, and nationally. Maxine judged horticulture and floral arrangements for 4-H and Garden Clubs throughout the area and state.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne, brother Loren "Bud" Lambeth, sisters Ruby Boone, Dorothy Roberts, and two infant sisters, and grandson in law Mike Bice.

Survivors include daughter Pam (Ralph) Irvin of Sullivan, granddaughter Cami Bice, great grandson Camron Bice, of Sullivan, special nephew Alan (Amy) Huff of Sullivan, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1:00p.m. on Wednesday June 27, 2018 at Holmes Memorial Chapel with Rev. Alan Finnan officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, tributes may be made to Sullivan County 4-H Council, or Presbyterian Community Kitchen in Sullivan. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Johnson Cemetery.
