Mildred Lucille Shipley

December 3, 1930 — August 1, 2025

Linton

Mildred Lucille Shipley, 94, of Linton, departed this earthly life to be in the eternal glory of her Lord and Savior, on August 1, 2025 in the comfort of her daughter's home. She began her life journey on December 3,1930 in Kokomo, Indiana the daughter of the late, Golden and Lula Burns. Mildred met and married the late Melvin Shipley in 1954, in Gary, Indiana. They walked hand in hand in life for 62 years before his passing. Mildreds love for God embodied who she was. Along with her good nature, she never met a stranger and was always with a smile and ready to lend a helping hand. She was a devoted worker in church, in later years she attended Calvary Baptist Church.

Her home was always a place where their children's friends were welcomed and felt at home. She loved her family and cherished the family and friendships she was blessed with. In return God blessed her with 94 years to love and cherish all those she met along her path. Her family, church and friends were a driving force for her. She thrived on taking care of others and that she did extremely well. Mildred enjoyed traveling and seeing new things and of course meeting new people wherever she went.

Those awaiting her Heavenly arrival were her parents; husband, Melvin Shipley; siblings, Howard Burns (Bess) and Raymond Burns.

Those here to cherish her memory are her children, Judy Powers (David), John Melvin Shipley (Deidra), Jim William Shipley ( Lynn); sisters, Helen Bergstrom and Barbara Gambill; grandchildren, Michelle Lawrence (Patrick), Kyra Vajentic (Tyler), Samantha, Heather (Kevin), Travis and Derrick (Mikaela) Shipley; great-grandchildren, Dominick and Alexander Vajentic and Emma and Avalynn Lawrence, along with several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

A graveside service to celebrate her home going, will be on Saturday, August, 9, 2025 at Carlisle Odd Fellows Cemetery at 10:30 am. with Pastor Larry Kimmell officiating.
